Mediaaurya.com,Lembata_Merayakan Hari Pers Nasional, awak media di kabupaten Lembata, Nusa Tenggara Timur mengunjungi rumah Janda berusia 91 tahun, Maria Jawa Waleng, Minggu (9/2/2020) adalah dalam rangka merayakan Hari Pers Nasional (HPN) ke 75.
Ketua Forum Jurnalis Lembata, Alexander Taum, mengatakan, terdorong rasa prihatin, FJL ingin menyerahkan bantuan ala kadarnya. Bantuan yang diberikan tak seberapa itu, dikumpulkan dari anggota FJL. Melihat kondisi memprihatinkan yang dialami Nene Jawa, ia memandang bahwa masih banyak ketimpangan yang perlu disuarakan oleh insan pers.
“Hari Pers Nasional (HPN) ke-74 tahun 2020 di Lembata kita rayakan dengan menunjukan sisi humanis pers sebagai voice of voiceless. Mama Jawa yang kita kunjungi tadi mengisyaratkan masih banyak ketimpangan yang perlu kita suarakan,” tegas Alexander Taum.
Karena itu, insan pers perlu mengingatkan kepada pengambil kebijakan untuk mengarahkan perencanaan pembangunan untuk menyejahterakan rakyat.
“Pemerintah jangan pernah mengedepankan kepentingan pribadi atau golongan Ialu mengabaikan rakyat,” tegasnya.
Menurutnya, HPN di Lembata menjadi momentum untuk melihat ke dalam, seberapa dalam pers memainkan peranan sebagai salah satu pilar demokrasi.
“Mama Jawa adalah anomali dalam litani pembangunan di Negeri ini. Bukan tidak mungkin ratusan bahkan ribuan “Mama Jawa lain” bernasib serupa. Ia adalah potret buram, negara belum sepenuhnya menjamin hajat hidup rakyat yang membutuhkan uluran tangan,” ujar Ketua Forum Jurnalis Lembata, Alexander Taum.sm
