Presiden Joko Widodo datang ke Kabupaten Lembata, Jumat (9/4/2021) untuk melihat lokasi bencana banjir dan longsor di desa Amakaka dan mengunjungi para pengungsi di Puskesmas Waipukang. Perjalanan kepala negara melalui jalan rusak Ke Amakaka, dan teriakan warga tentang mahalnya BbM dan buruknya infrastruktur jalan.
Bersama rombongan menteri, Kepala BNPB, Kepala Basarnas, Gubernur NTT dan Bupati Lembata, Presiden Joko Widodo melalui jalanan rusak dan berlubang ke desa Amakaka, Kecamatan Ile Ape.
Sehari sebelum orang nomor satu di Indonesia itu datang, sejumlah ruas jalan yang rusak dan berlubang di desa Waipukang dan Muruona ditambal dengan tanah hitam. Pekerjaan ini dikebut hingga malam hari menggunakan alat excavator.

Saat berada di desa Amakaka, warga yang sudah berkerumun di sana seolah menumpahkan kekesalan mereka kepada Pemda Lembata di hadapan Presiden Joko Widodo
Mereka mengeluhkan mahalnya harga Bahan Bakar Minyak (BBM) di Kabupaten Lembata dan buruknya infrastruktur jalan di Kabupaten Lembata termasuk jalan ke Kecamatan Ile Ape dan Ile Ape Timur.
“Bapak Jokowi, jalan dari Lewoleba ke Amakaka itu mereka baru tambal tadi malam, pas bapak mau datang,” sindir seorang warga yang berteriak dari arah kerumunan, saat presiden sedang memantau kerusakan akibat banjir dan longsor.
Di samping itu, beberapa warga juga spontan berteriak kalau BBM di Kabupaten Lembata sangat mahal, hal yang sebelumnya dikeluhkan pengungsi saat bertemu Menteri Sosial (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini sebelumnya.
“Dari masyarakatnya menyampaikan kalau BBMnya mahal, oke saya terima,” ujar Presiden Joko Widodo singkat saat memberikan keterangan pers didampingi Gubernur NTT dan Bupati Lembata.
Presiden Joko Widodo telah berbicara dengan Gubernur NTT Viktor Laiskodat dan Bupati Lembata Eliaser Yentji Sunur mengenai penanganan dan pemulihan pasca bencana di wilayah setempat.
Atas persetujuan masyarakat, warga di lokasi terdampak bencana ini nantinya akan direlokasi di mana proses pembangunannya akan segera dilakukan secepat-cepatnya.
Selain itu, Presiden juga telah memerintahkan agar proses pencarian di tengah medan berbatuan yang menyulitkan pengoperasian alat berat untuk tetap dilakukan.
